I am passionate about informed consent and ensuring my students know they have options and what those include. This is your birth and your baby. I offer in person classes in the Edmond/OKC metro and surrounding areas as well as a hybrid option.
What is a Doula?
Think of a wedding coordinator but for your birth. The word “doula” comes from the Greek language and means “a woman who serves.” A doula is a non-medical professional labor support person. A doula will provide information and resources during pregnancy to help you reach your birth goals, continuous physical support during your labor, and encouragement and emotional support for both you and your partner as well as anyone else that you invite into your birth space. A doula will not perform any medical exams or procedures, provide any medical advice or care, replace your partner, or make any decisions on your behalf.
What does a postpartum doula provide?
A postpartum doula provides information, resources, and support to help you transition to being home with your new blessing. This may include: feeding, infant care, postpartum recovery, running errands, and any task that will help you do what’s most important; taking care of yourself and your baby. Why take a childbirth class?
You are about to take on a brand new role as a parent. Bringing life into this world is a miracle and a blessing and it involves a lot of decision making. Education empowers you to make informed decisions with confidence. You will also connect with other couples that are on a similar journey as you. Your partner will learn so many tools and be able to provide the support you need during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
