Top 10 gift ideas for new moms

Mama, you are strong, beautiful, and amazing. You deserve the best. Leave a comment and let me know what you would add to this list.

  1. Services- Birth + Postpartum Doula support, house cleaning, massage therapy, salon appointment, etc. These gifts are invaluable and will be so appreciated. I’ve teamed up with Be Her Village which is a baby registry focused on what a mom wants and needs. It’s free to create a registry and all of the money gifted goes straight to the mom to be’s account.

  1. Photoshoot- Ask her if she has any favorite photographers and then with her permission, book and pay for the photoshoot. These pictures are so special but it can be stressful on a new mom and costly. Here are a few of my recommendations in the OKC area for newborn photography.

  2. Cozy Gifts- Warm socks, blanket, luxury pajamas, or a soft robe. You can never go wrong with these gifts. Becoming a mom can be uncomfortable as your body goes through changes and heals from the incredible feat of birth. It’s also easy to run out of clean nursing clothes and blankets quickly (speaking from personal experience) so it’s nice to slip on a new pair of socks or snuggle up in a new, clean blanket.

  3. Self Care Basket- Customized gift baskets with mom’s favorite things are thoughtful and will be so appreciated. My mom has always put together personalized gifts for me for my birthday and Christmas. She finds joy in shopping for the things I love and it warms my heart that she cares so much. Just a few suggestions for items: her favorite coffee or tea and snacks, gift cards, sitz bath, face masks, one line journal, photo frame with picture of her and baby, hot water bottle, or notes of encouragement. You can also make this easier on yourself and purchase a subscription box. The Belly Bundle was my favorite box when I was pregnant and they gifted us a dad box. (You get the special privilege of viewing the one time David was an influencer.)

  4. Date Night In- Finding time to connect with your partner can be a challenge when you become new parents. Offer to come to their house and cook a meal for them or put together a date night box. You can also purchase a date night subscription. Here is one company I recommend, thehappilyco. They are currently having a half off sale site wide.

  5. Freezer/Crockpot meals- Food can be an amazing gift. I highly recommend Easy Freezy Freezer Meals that operates right here in OKC. They also have a shipping option if you’re not local.
One of my favorite things to gift a new mom is lactation energy bites. These are super simple to make and delicious. Recipe is posted on my instagram account: lavendersagedoula

Taking a meal you’ve made or a gift card for a food delivery service is a great option too.

  6. Nursing Clothes/Comfortable Clothing- Not every mama will choose to breastfeed so this gift can vary. Tunic tops and lounge pants are great for postpartum. I am an affiliate for an adorable family owned boutique and would be happy to recommend some gift options. They also offer e-gift cards. ClosetCandyBoutique
I also recommend UndercoverMama or LatchedMama for nursing tops, dresses, and hoodies.

  7. Babywearing- I never thought I would be passionate about this topic until I was gifted a Solly Baby wrap and it changed my life, no exaggeration. We lived a busy lifestyle and I knew having a baby wasn’t going to change that. Babywearing had so many benefits for me but the main one was being able to get things done around the house and still tend to my baby’s needs. If you know a new mom that wasn’t gifted a wrap or sling, bless her with one. If you can teach her how to use it, even better.

  8. Books- As a new mom, finding time to read can be a challenge but it can be so helpful and worth it. You can purchase credits on Audible for moms that are like me and do best with audiobooks. I have a few book recommendations but the one I want to highlight here is The First Forty Days. I wish I had known about this book when I was pregnant. I’ll go more in depth about this one in another post but for now, just take my word for it. The mama you gift this to will thank you.

  9. Funny Gifts- Laughter is the best way to heal and get through the sleepless nights and other blessings of motherhood. My person, Chelsea, gifted me a β€œtired as a mother” coffee mug and it’s still my most used mug. She got it from another great subscription company, Bump Boxes.

Note to the gifter: Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope this list is helpful. The most important thing you can do for a new mom is ask her how she is doing and how you can help. Your time and listening ear will be the most valuable gifts. Please feel free to leave a comment if you have items you would add to this list. Any feedback is appreciated.
